Do I Get A Warranty Or Guarantee With An Engine Reconditioning Service?
With all reconditioned engine services, Engine Engineering will provide you with a complimentary and comprehensive 12-month unlimited engine mileage warranty. An engine reconditioning and engine remanufacturing service differ on the basis of the parts used and time consumed. A remanufactured engine is on par with a reconditioned engine where the work is undertaken in the same manner with the same quality and expertise used. However, the difference separating the two is that Engine Engineering will fit a remanufactured engine with new pistons which we do not do with an engine reconditioning service.
How Much Does A Reconditioned Engine Cost?
Since Engine Engineering offer a range of services for a range of different vehicles, most quotes on prices are unique to that particular vehicle and any potential engine issues are also factored into the price. In order to establish a guide price for an engine reconditioning service, it would be best to either enter your details online in our yellow plate box or give our customer service team a call.
Can I Have My Existing Engine Reconditioned?

Reconditioning your vehicles existing engine ensures that no compatibility issues occur and the process of having to inform the relevant authorities to an engine change in your vehicle is removed. There is also the added benefit of retaining the vehicles current resale value when choosing to recondition your original engine.
How Is An Engine Reconditioned?
When Engine Engineering recondition engines, we do so to the highest standard. Our process involves stripping the engine down to the individual components and putting the engine parts through a thorough carbon scrubbing process in which we implement Air, Chemical, and water. Once this has been completed the engine components are then checked for any damage and are repaired using machine work or replaced with new parts. The engine is then re-assembled by the same engineers who disassembled the engine and is put through a series of stress testing and quality control testing before being put back into the vehicle or wrapped for delivery.
Can Engine Engineering Recondition Turbochargers?
Engine Engineering is fully equipped to offer you a turbocharger reconditioning service for your vehicle. This will include using machine work on the turbocharger housing and replacing the turbo core, all of which is undertaken in-house by our specialist engineers.
What are the benefits of a reconditioned engine?
Reconditioned engine ( Rebuilt Engine ) - much better then used engine
It is extremely important to buy a reconditioned engine of the highest quality with a long warranty. It is often difficult to assess how good a used engine is. The mileage will give some indication of this, but that is not always a reliable indicator of quality. When presented with a 100k miles engine and a 50k engine it would be tempting to assume that the 50k engine was the better one. However there are many factors that need to be considered: most importantly- how is the vehicle maintained? Was the engine oil changed when it was required? (If the oil is not changed in time the then engine lifespan decreases rapidly) Was the engine overheated? What distances did the car usually travel? (short distances quickly damage the engine) The 100k engine could be in far better condition than the 50k engine. In reality, this is often the case. Here at Engine Engineering, we don't work on assumptions. Our job is to be certain!
Engine Engineering - Engine Reconditioning Company
As an engine reconditioner / re-manufacturer we understand the importance of quality of a reconditioned engine built to last. This is why our engines are reconditioned/re-manufactured units rather than second hand used engines. The new components like pistons, piston rings, bearings, oil pumps, valves and timing chain kits along with new seals and gaskets are to compose the new quality, along with value for money. Our engines are sold on an exchange basis so we can utilise the Customer's old engine unit where possible.
Reconditioned engine cost less than second hand engine
This way we can offer prices comparable to prices of second hand used engines for sale. In many cases, our rebuilt engines are much cheaper than second hand engines. In many cases, our rebuilt engines are much cheaper than second hand engines. One would expect that something which is second hand may have some small issues which usually means there are additional costs to rectify the leaking seals or other problems. ( second hand engine - do not expect it to be perfect - and usually very short warranty - if any ) Engine reconditioning not only saves our customers money but it also benefits them as the newly fitted parts breathe new life and longevity into the engine.
Reconditioned Engines with Long Warranty
That's why the warranty is for 12 months with unlimited mileage for reconditioned engines and 18 months for re-manufactured engines. That’s why our engines frequently cost less than second hand used engines with short or no warranty. There is one more important point. If you buy an engine and there is something not quite right, a knocking noise, oil leak or any other engine related problem, what will you do? The engine is already fitted! DO NOT MAKE THE COMMON MISTAKE - BUY THE ENGINE FROM THE ENGINE PLACE! NOT FROM THE SCRAP YARD

Engine Engineering is eco friendly
It is worth mentioning that our activities are environmentally friendly as well. By reusing the core of the old engines and replacing parts in it we are in essence performing a kind of recycling. Reusing engines means that less carbon dioxide is produced as the core of the engine is reused so there is no need to manufacture it. Consequently, we are being more eco-friendly.
Rebuilt Engine vs Reconditioned Engine
There is one thing to say for sure - each Reconditioned Engine was definitely rebuilt. The process of engine reconditioning start from stripping the engine, through assessment and parts replacement - to finally building the engine back with new seals and gaskets. So each reconditioned engine was rebuilt ( as part of the reconditioning process ). The same could apply to remanufactured engines - there are some criteria to fulfil to call the engine remanufactured - but those engines are also rebuilt. This way there is the conclusion - each engine built back after being stripped is a "rebuilt engine". It doesn't say if the engine has any work done - just built back. Be sure to buy reconditioned or remanufactured engine!
So remember if the engine was REBUILT then ask if it was also reconditioned or remanufactured as this is what you are looking for. The reconditioned engine, as well as remanufactured engine, will reassure that the engine is after treatment allowing reliability and performance, where just rebuilt engine mean assembled back but it does not describe what ( if anything ) was done to it.
What is your reconditioning standard?
Reconditioned Engine VS Remanufactured Engine
At Engine Engineering we take great care in ensuring the quality of our reconditioned engines. We recondition the engines to a standard extremely close to the standard of a fully remanufactured engine. However, to reduce costs some components are reused.
The main difference is that we reuse the pistons and change the piston rings. In remanufactured engines the pistons are replaced with new oversized pistons and the engine block is rebored or cylinder liners are used with standard size pistons.
New Piston Rings in Engine Engineering Reconditioned Engines
Reconditioned engines are fitted with new piston rings and cylinders are honed. This operation takes place after assessment and measurements are taken to ensure that the condition of the engine block and pistons permit this. If the wear is above the limit then the full remanufacturing process takes place.
New Bearings in Engine Engineering Reconditioned Engines
In our reconditioned engines bearings are replaced with new bearings of standard size and the crank is polished or ground if this is required and then oversize bearings are used. In remanufactured engines, the crank is always ground and new oversize bearings are used. When assembling the engine, new oil seals are used, to ensure there won’t be any leaks after the reconditioned engine is installed and started.
Oil Pump in Reconditioned Engines
Oil pump tolerance is examined and the non-return valve in the oil pump is checked. Frequently the oil pump is replaced with a new oil pump, in a remanufactured engine, this is always replaced.
Cylinder Head in Reconditioned Engines
It is Engine Engineering standard that every cylinder head is pressure tested and skimmed, valves machined and valve seats machined, and new steam oil seals fitted. Hydraulic lifters and camshafts are checked and replaced only if required, the same with tappets, rocker arms, and any other cylinder head components. Oil seals on camshaft are replaced with new ones. The head bolts ( stretch bolts ) are checked and if beyond tolerance they are replaced.
Reconditioned Engine Assembling
The assembly process takes place at the end to put all reconditioned engine parts together with new gaskets.
Our reconditioned engines are not painted over! All individual parts are painted prior to assembly so you can see all the new gaskets and seals. This is a vital part of the process as some companies define a reconditioned engine as merely jet washing an old engine and then spray painting the entire engine. At Engine Engineering we have returned, repeat customers happy to buy another and another reconditioned engine from us because they can trust our high service and exceptional quality. We work hard to ensure your trust through delivering the highest standard and reliability in our reconditioned engines.
Cleaning of Engine Parts
Prior to any assessment all parts are cleaned from grease, oil and carbon deposits ( the black stuff inside of old, tired engine ) which builds up over the time, especially if engine oil not replaced on time. When all parts are exceptionally clean, they are easier to work with and it becomes easier for them to be assessed, all potential cracks are visible and we can eliminate the parts for repair or replacement. Disassembling and rebuilding the engine would not be effective and efficient if this step was omitted. Major components like cylinder head and the engine block are pressure tested so we know that all the workmanship and new engine parts are not wasted when rebuilding the engine.
Timing Belt / Chain Kit in Reconditioned Engines from Engine Engineering
There are a group of engines where the timing is chain driven. Please ensure that you ask us to confirm which engines have a reused timing kit and those which have a brand new timing kit. We do not install timing belt kits on our reconditioned engines unless it is required by the client and additionally paid for. The engines ( unless clearly stated and only for chain timing or gear timing ) need to be timed prior to installation by the workshop which is fitting the engine for the client in their vehicle.
