The Ford Ka was first manufactured in the year 1996. It was designed and styled primarily to be a city car, it was primarily produced to be cost effective. The Egg shaped design of the car resulted in the car being easier to repair when its damaged. Critics applauded the KA when it was first released for its ability to handle very well and its solid grip. The first models of the KA were not renowned for having a cutting edge engine. However the critics have consider it to be functional, and even a enjoyable driving experience. Over its life span so far it has gone through three generations.

Ford KA Engine Models- First Generation (1996-2008)

The First generation of KA used a 1,300 cc OHV four-cylinder Endura-E engine. This engine could be described as being Archaic and its design was similar to engine designs dating back to the 1950s. However the engine provided enough for the KA to be a pleasant and enjoyable driving experience.

In addition to the basic model of KA there were two additional models of the KA released which were named the "StreetKa" and the "SportKa" in terms of an update in the engines used within these models they received a 8-valve 1.6l Duratec petrol engine 93 hp (69 kW).

Ford KA Engine Models- Second Generation (2009-2013)

This generation provided a new modern look to the KA whilst maintain the same quirky style of the original generation. It had much more features than the original. Additionally, this car came with an option between two types of engines which were the petrol 1.2l (51kW, 102 N.m) and a diesel 1.3l (55kW, 145 N.m) and were manufactured by Fiat.
