Ford Mondeo MK3 Engines (2000-2007)

This generation of Mondeos was released in the year 2000. This generation also saw the release of the Duratoq diesel engine. This generation also saw the release of the Zetec engine. The 1.8 and the 2.0 L generation had a fault which caused the the butterfly valves to wear out too rapidly and consequently they can break apart which causes bits of plastic and metal to get into the cylinders of the engines. This consequently can cause severe damage to the engine and several problems can occur. Ford dealt with this problem from the periods of 2002 to 2003.
