The Range Rover Classic

The Range Rover was initially designed with a plastic dashboard and vinyl seats to allow for a hose to be used to wash it down. The luxury interior came later. The engine of Range Rover Classic was originally a Buick-derived Rover V8 engine developing a power of 135 hp (101 kW) and after fitting of Lucas fuel injection in 1984 the performance increased to 155 hp (116 kW). In the mean time in 1981 the 4 door model of the Range Rover Classic was introduced, as before 1981 the Range Rover Classic was a 2 door vehicle. The very first diesel engine fitted in Range Rovers Classic was 2.4 turbo diesel manufactured by Italian VM Motori, it was introduced in 1988 and developed 112 bhp (84 kW), superseded in 1990 by 2.5 litre, 119 bhp (89 kW) VM turbo diesel engine.

The Range Rover Classic with this engine was badged Vogue Turbo D. The first Land Rover Diesel Engine was 2.5 turbo diesel, introduced in 1992 with the 111 bhp (83 kW) 200TDi and later in 1994 the 300tdi, again with 111 bhp was installed to Range Rover Classic.The addition classic to the Range Rover was introduced by Land Rover nearly the end of its production to ensure the difference between the current ( named Range Rover Classic ) and new coming model of Range Rover Series 2 known as Range Rover P38
