The M5 is a high performance 5 series BMW and the engines reflect this. Between 1998 & 2003 a 4.9L V8 engine was used. The 5.0L V10 was installed in 2005 till 2010 and from 2011 to present a 4.4L V8 Twin Turbo engine is used.
