PROBLEMS / FAULTS REPORTED ON BMW N43 ENGINES


We have seen quite a few of the BMW N43 engines for reconditioning over the past few years at Engine Engineering and can report the following issues.

N43 ENGINE PROBLEM - HIGH TEMPERATURE

Firstly some users complained of a high operating temperature. We found that this is usually caused by substandard oil being used in the engine. It is paramount that you following guidelines from the manufacture, ensure their recommended oil is being used by whomever is doing your oil changes.

N43 ENGINE PROBLEM - ENGINE VIBRATION

Secondly unusual engine vibration can occur. This is a usually an auxiliary issue - have you injectors tested and replaced where required.

N43 ENGINE PROBLEM - MISFIRE

Lastly and perhaps the most commonly reported - rough idling and misfiring of the BMW N43 engine. Through investigation if can be found that this is a problem with the coils from the ignition.
