The BMW X1 began production in the year of 2009. It comes in the 5-door station wagon or estate car body style. The car is available in two configurations which are common across the X-Series range. These are the four wheel drive configuration (4x4) which has been entitled by BMW as the "xDrive" and the rear wheel drive option which has been entitled the "sDrive"
The platform which the BMW X1 is based on is similar to that which is used in the X3 range of cars. This is again similar to the BMW 3-Series platform to which both these X-Series are based on.
