KNOWN JAGUAR LION 2.7L ENGINE FAULTS
There are a few issues with this engine that have came to our attention. The 2.7L diesel engine is suffering for wear of the big end bearings that are sticking to the crankshaft and eventually causing the engine to seize. In some situations the pressure on the crankshaft is so great it is completely snapping causing extensive damage in the engine block of the 2.7 Jaguar engine. This issue completly writes off the engine, it is not even possible for our expert engineers to recondition these damaged engines however if caught early we have devised a solution for this problem by grinding the crankshaft and installing oversized bearings.Another common issue we see are scored cylinder liners and bent con rods. This damage is the cause of a turbocharger failure. Leaking oil from the turbo charger into the inlet builds up in the inter-cooler eventually causing a surge of hot oil in the engine damaging and bending the connections rods. Bent con rods can cause the pistons to press on the cylinder liners and score them in such case the piston rings, liners and connections rods must all be replaced which can be an expensive trip to the garage!
